Real Mason Jars use what’s known as SAE (inch based) Measurements. It’s close to, but not the same as Imperial (Metric). Replacement jar lids are obviously made in China using Metrics, and the conversions are imperfect. And it’s why you see so many complaints on lids for Mason jars! The fit is often not leak proof or air tight.
